Day of Doing in Bridgewater

Adelaide Hills Council and Town Team Movement coordinated the Adelaide Hills 'Day of Doing', which offered small grants to communities to undertake placemaking and community connection events on Saturday 2 May 2026.
Activating Bridgewater supported two events. The first, 'Sporty Mates', was a free morning fitness session at the oval in the (heavy) rain. Sporty Mates - Bridgewater Chapter, aimed to build on the success of Sporty Mates in Uraidla, where attendees take turns planning and delivering exercise sessions based on their skills and expertise areas. The focus for Sporty Mates is to provide space for inclusive, non-competitive, all-abilities physical activity where kids are welcome. Stay tuned as we look to organise more regular Sporty Mates sessions.
The second, 'Paint an Adelaide Hills Bird' was organised by a group of parents, ecologists, and local artist Bella Gazard. In this booked out session, 25 primary school aged local children were guided to paint a local bird on a wooden precut and primed board. Permission has been granted by SA Power Networks and property owners to install these boards on stobie poles around the town centre. Stay tuned on that.
